I began learning at The Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts (now IME) in 1998 in the 520 hour curriculum. This included anatomy, physiology, business management as well as acupressure, myofascial release, cranial sacral, Swedish, deep tissue and community on-site hours. This transforming process led to beautiful Avenues.
By 2001 I was working at salons and the Henderson Castle. Later for Radisson in their gym, before their makeover, and then in 2002 I was at the Bronson Athletic Club. In 2003 I began a partnership with a therapist friend and we began Inspiring Hands Therapeutic Massage. It was in the beautiful historic district on South Street, downtown Kalamazoo. We had a beautiful garden that decorated our steps leading down to the lower level of a large Victorian home. This is where it all truly began. Prior that we signed a least for the upstairs room Victorian and it was gorgeous setting with stained glass windows and we would share this room and before we knew it he signed another lease and another year went by. We had grown out of the lower-level Victorian and moved on to other adventures with a larger team of therapists and found ourselves to be employers during this time.
We parted ways when business associate wanted to work with a chiropractor in the community and I was beginning my family at that time. My oldest son Dylan was born in 2005. I stayed in a sister Victorian downtown on South Street. I just love these old houses. And in a blink of an eye 10 years went by and I had two more Sons. I had joined partnership with Upston Chiropractic 2011 and continue to have two locations. Working as a full-time therapist, full-time mother, business owner and manager. It has been a blessing to say the least. In 2015 an opportunity to purchase the Victorian on Westnedge where we currently operate became available. I believe a lot of the growth came from not only having a passion for massage therapy but in some amazing training and body work to help facilitate a healing in each individual I work with.
Some advanced modalities include Michael Young's MRT muscle Release Technique I took his course in 2004, Advanced craniosacral Techniques along the way, in 2007 I began all of the deep feet Ashiatsu training. And at that same time I took the CARE course which was 36 hours to learn chemistry of essential oils, application of raindrop technique levels I & II, and the healing oils of the Bible as well as Emotional Release Technique.
I have always surround myself with other like-minded passionate healers in my community. Today I have a group of eight therapist that I work alongside at two locations in Kalamazoo. My philosophy has always been grounded in a faith in God and in 2006 found myself in the Catholic faith and this has been my background to hold fast to during all times of growth and rebirth of my business and family structure.
